Research
The DSC aims to develop more realistic simulations of the complex deep-drilling process, with the coupled large-scale scientific equipment "software and hardware simulator".
Service Offerings
Beyond internal research projects, Drilling Simulator Celle is dedicated to perform diverse research and development work with industry customers.

Drilling Simulator Celle
The Drilling Simulator Celle is an interdisciplinary research network of the Clausthal University of Technology in the research field "Sustainable Energy Systems". The central objective of the DSC is to significantly reduce the technical, economic and environmentally relevant project risks of planned deep drilling projects for the energy use of the geological subsurface in the context of the implementation of the energy and heat transition. For this purpose, the research centre has a highly specific and unprecedented experimental and simulation environment that enables novel research work to understand the highly complex deep drilling processes.
The research approach includes both basic research-oriented and strongly application or transfer-oriented aspects. This is reflected in the distribution of third-party funding from industry, federal ministries and European regional funding as well as the German Research Foundation.
